We finally sold Jodi’s Blazer today. We have had it up for sale for a couple weeks now, had ads on KSL Cars, Google Base, and craigslist. I don’t think anyone called based on those ads, it would be interesting to know how many people saw them though. As far as I know everyone called because they saw the car parked on the side of the street by our house. We’re glad to have it sold, didn’t make quite as much as we would have liked from it, but still did comparitevly well from other prices we’ve seen for comparable vehicles.

Jodi and I bought a new vehicle last week. We purchased a 2004 Toyota 4Runner. We considered leasing, but decided we wanted to purchase something and build up some ownership in it. We decided we were tired of our Blazer, it is older, has a few miles on it and we got tired of putting money in to it. Last week on Monday we found the 4Runner that we purchased on KSL Cars and called the owner and went to test drive the car. We decided to purchase it that evening and paid for it on Tuesday. On Thursday I got it all registered at the DMV. I had a little drama while getting that done, the girl at America First Credit Union stamped the wrong area so I had to take the title back to America First and have them fix it so that the DMV could take care of their part. Everything worked out, but was a little frustrating. It is a 2004, 56,000 miles, SR5, V6. It has climate control system, towing package, 4 wheel drive and pretty new tires. We really like it so far, it drives very smooth and quiet, much better than the Blazer did.

Since KSL Cars worked out for us to find a car, we decided to list the Blazer on there to see how it goes. It has been almost a day since I put it on there and I haven’t had any response to it yet, but hopefully someone will see it and want it soon.

This past weekend was our triathlon. Jodi did the swimming which was 750 meters (0.47 miles) and I did the biking and running. The bike was a 20K (12.4 miles) and the run was a 5K (3.1 miles). It was a bit harder than I had expected, part of my problem was that I rented a bike and only rode it once before the race. The bike was very nice though! Jodi swam the distance in about 18 minutes, I biked in just under an hour and ran in about 37 minutes. I should have been able to do the run faster, but while biking I had a couple of cramps in my calves that I had to get rid of before I could run. Full results are available here. We placed 11th out of all of the relays and 4th in mixed relays.

We had some car trouble on our way to St. George and ended up having to get a new fuel pump. We drove the Blazer down and it died half a dozen times on the way there. It was able to start right back up after it shut off and we pulled over. That was an expensive repair that we weren’t expecting! One nice side effect that had as well is it fixed the gas gauge so now we know how much gas is actually in the tank! That hasn’t worked for a couple of years.

We also went to Tuacahn just outside of St. George and saw My Fair Lady. It was neat to go to an open-air play, they had horses, old cars and rain as props. We stayed at the Fairfield Inn in St. George and spent quite a bit of our time there in the pool. It was nice to get away for a couple of days and to hang out with everyone. Jodi’s older brother and his wife came and did the triathlon. Jodi’s parents and grandmother were there too. Two of Jodi’s cousins were there, J and Lins, Lins ran in the triathlon with two of her friends.
