After lots of drywalling, mudding, sanding, mudding, sanding, and painting Jodi and I finally got our TV mounted on the wall in our living room. It turned in to a lot bigger and lengthier process than we had ever expected it would be. We are glad we went through it because we really like having the TV where it is and it opened up some space in our living room too. We were able to put our chair where the TV use to be. We’re really glad we went through all the work with the wall too because now all of the wiring for the TV is running through the wall instead of along the wall. Running the wiring through the conduit ended up being more difficult than I had hoped, but we got everything in there. Pictures of the end result are here.

I also ended up having to buy a new drill during this process, the drill I had was a fairly cheap Black and Decker drill that had a dying battery that would not hold a charge very long. This got to be very annoying but I had to replace the whole drill because I burned up the motor while putting in the bolts for the mount. I really like my new drill and it is a lot more powerful, now I have an 18V Makita that is nice and compact and lightweight.

Jodi and I have been looking at getting a new tv for a few weeks now, we decided that’s what we wanted to get for a Christmas present for ourselves. Our main tv was a Sony Trinitron that I bought a few years ago which worked pretty well, but wasn’t too big and didn’t do high definition, which is getting more popular. We also wanted one that we could mount on our wall above our fireplace to free up some space in our living room. We decided we wanted to get a Sony LCD 40?. Sony makes good televisions and we really like the look of the XBR line with the glass border around the television. We did some research and decided to get the Bravia XBR4 40″. We did all the research online that we could to make sure this was the tv that we wanted to buy and decided to stop in at Best Buy and see what it really looked like. After seeing it we were still set on that being the one that we wanted and we were talking with an employee there about it and he mentioned that it was on sale till the next day. This got us thinking and we decided to go ahead and get it now since it was on sale. We put it on a Best Buy credit card for 0% interest but we’ll still pay it off before the end of the year. This isn’t something we usually do and not a habit we want to get in to, but we did it this time because it was cheaper than normal so hopefully saved us some money even if we would have waited.

For now we just have it where our old tv was and we took the old tv up to our bedroom. The new tv is a ton lighter than our old one even though it was 13? more screen space! The picture on it is very nice, very bright and clear, we really like it! We don’t have anything that can do an HD quality picture, so we haven’t really seen it work the best it can yet, but one day we’ll get something that does HD. Now I just need to get wires going through the wall and get it mounted above the fireplace, I’m sure that will happen within the next couple of months.
